Furan Analysis
Testing Standard: IEC 61198 / ASTM D5837
Furan compounds in transformer oil indicate degradation of cellulose paper insulation. The paper insulation inside a transformer cannot be easily inspected, but by measuring five key furan compounds (especially 2-Furfuraldehyde), we can estimate the Degree of Polymerization (DP) and remaining life of the paper insulation without opening the transformer.
