Tan Delta (Dielectric Dissipation Factor) Test
Testing Standard: IS 6262 / IEC 60247
The Tan Delta test measures the dielectric losses in transformer oil under AC voltage. A high dissipation factor indicates the presence of contaminants, moisture, aging products, or polar compounds that affect the insulating properties of the oil.
This test is a reliable indicator of overall oil quality and is often used alongside BDV and resistivity tests for comprehensive assessment.
